Gangsta

In Gansta Culture by bell hooks talks about how young black males feel suppressed by the white man. Hooks goes into how the black males go to criminal motives to become an individual. Because working a normal job is considered weak and doesn't get your freedom from the white corporate world. Hooks incorporates Ice T.  using him explain why they go to crime because it has no requirements and anyone can do it. This definitely gives some value to what hooks is saying about black men. Another thing she incorporates Darwinism survival of the fittest and not carrying if they end up in jail or dead as long if they get paid at the end of the day.

Pathos

For this blog I have chosen to use Dead and Gone by T.I there is a lot of pathos in this song. I won't be starting at the beginning of the song but the middle. T.I raps about how “ Niggas die everyday All over bull shit, dope money, dice game, ordinary hood shit Could this be 'cos of hip hop music? Or did the ones with the good sense not use it? Usually niggas don't know what to do when their back against the wall so they just start shootin' for red or for blue or for blow. I guess from bankhead or from your projects no more stress, now I'm straight, now I get it, now I take time to think, before I make mistakes just for my family's sake”. Seeing niggas dieing everyday over dumb stuff is can desensitize someone's feelings. But for people not living in these street conditions it can create surprise that this can be happening in our country. T.I also talks about how most niggas can't solve anything without violence creating a hostile, angry environment. Although T.I changed his ways to not act out of anger and think about what is smart for his family's sake. This show love for his family he doesn't want to be hurt by his stupid actions. This song is mostly about how his old self is dead and gone because he doesn't want to travel on the road paved for death.

Entry #1

The Ad I have chosen is of a movie cleverly titled The Comebacks. The movie is created by the producers of The Wedding Crashers. The Ad strongly objectifies women. The woman is half bent over wearing a red helmet with blond hair flowing out, a red jersey pulled up a little to show her back and tight gold football pants. In this picture she has her buttocks raised in a perky way while holding a football in between her legs. Then comes the clever movie title and catch phrase. "The Comebacks, Keep your eye on the ball." This Ad targets single straight males who like football, possibly middle class middle age men or college/high school students. I think why this is the target audience is because of the woman position with the football between the legs and the text saying keep your eye on the ball. Also by how the movie is presented by the producers from the Wedding Crashers. I don't think rich middle age men would spend time to watch this spoof genre movie. Unless the male is a college or high school student.

Self Introduction

Hola my name is Chris Reid and I am quiet person. I live in Kearney,MO and commute to Missouri Western. I have lived in Kearney for almost 3 years. I moved from Excelsior springs my junior year of high school. The move from Excelsior springs to Kearney I gained a passion for tennis. The sport has played a big part of my life. Always admiring the professionals such as Andy Roddick, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer with their amazing talent and great sportsmanship. Tennis has been a way for me to relax and have fun. Along with tennis other things I enjoy to do are play video games, watching sports and eating food. However unlike tennis English has not been a major part of my life. My experience with writing. Mainly because of taking the same English courses in high school and having no motivation to improve. Now that I have taken English-100 I feel as though I had good improvement in understanding sentence structure and hope to further my improvement overall.
